A three-year curriculum- and program-development project to integrate the humanities and health sciences.

This project establishes the Integrational Health Humanities and Allied Sciences Lab at Lehigh University, an interdisciplinary initiative that brings together the humanities and health sciences to strengthen graduate education and public scholarship. Through a new Graduate Certificate and collaborative curriculum, the Lab equips students to address urgent health questions using the tools of literature, history, philosophy, and ethics. By reconnecting academic inquiry with real-world challenges, the Lab demonstrates how the humanities contribute to public understanding, civic trust, and cross-disciplinary problem-solving. It offers a replicable model for how universities can renew the public mission of higher education while preparing thoughtful, service-minded scholars to meet the complex demands of our time.
